Understanding BFRBs

You're not alone — and you're not broken.

Body-focused repetitive behaviours (BFRBs) affect an estimated 1 in 20 people. They're not habits you can simply "stop." They're deeply ingrained responses to stress, boredom, and emotional overwhelm — and most people who have them carry them silently for years.

The first step isn't willpower. It's awareness.

What UrgeWise does

Built for the reality of living with a BFRB.

🎯

Log urges, not just incidents

Every urge you catch and log instead of acting on is a win. UrgeWise rewards that — because the battle is fought before the behaviour.

📈

See your patterns

Charts by location, body part, and time reveal when and where your urges spike — turning vague feelings into actionable insight.

🔥

Streak tracking

Build incident-free streaks and earn points automatically every 6 hours. Progress feels real because it is.

💬

Thoughts & feelings log

Capture what's going on emotionally in the moment. Over time, patterns in your thoughts become just as revealing as the behaviour itself.

🏆

Goals & achievements

Set meaningful targets — hours, days, weeks incident-free — and track your progress toward them.

🔒

Private by design

Your data is yours. UrgeWise is built on secure, encrypted infrastructure. Nothing is shared or sold.

"Awareness is the first step to change. Every entry helps you understand your patterns better."

The story behind UrgeWise

Built by someone who gets it.

My name is Richard. I've lived with chronic skin picking disorder for over 30 years.

I built UrgeWise because I couldn't find a tool that treated this condition with the seriousness and nuance it deserves. Most apps are built for generic habit tracking — they weren't designed for the reality of a BFRB, where an incident isn't a failure but an act of honesty, and catching an urge deserves as much recognition as a clean day.

UrgeWise is the app I wished existed. I hope it helps you the way building it has helped me.
